Being consistent is a desire of the most ambitious people. They’ve already figured out that it is the key to their success. How did they start?
Everyone at some point in their lives created their routine. It is important to notice that over the years it keeps changing, depending on your current lifestyle, so you’re always free to update it. However, you’re the one who’s choosing what lands on your to-do list, right? Choose wisely.
Is it hard to maintain it?
It is, as usual, hard at the very beginning. Starting something new, whatever it is, is most likely to be postponed, especially if you’re the type of person that doesn’t adjust to a new situation within a minute. Yet, after a week or two you become used to your daily routine.
Choosing wisely needs to be more specific. You need to set up your goals first so that you can find your way of achieving them all one by one. Be precise as much as you can – write down all the things you want or need to get done, how much time will each of them take and what is your main priority. Prepare yourself the best you can because the more specific you are now, the more efficient your work will be later on.
Whatever you want to achieve will take time, don’t forget about it. Patience and smart work are needed every single day of your journey. If your routine becomes boring to the point where you cannot take it anymore, feel free to substitute something and diversify it a little bit. And always keep in mind the reason why you started (writing it in a visible place will help you stay motivated).
What else is helpful?
Support of your family, friends, and your partner. People around you have an impact on you (whether you realize that or not), so if you’re spending too much time with the ones that don’t have bigger plans or don’t have any type of schedule, it’ll decrease your efficiency. You can’t change the types of people that they are but you can change the type of people you surround yourself with. Again, smart choices are needed.
What also will make it easier for you is to put in your to-do list something that won’t be a waste of your time but something connected to one of your passions. It becomes something in between pleasure and work, so you can enjoy it even more.
It is all about your time. When it comes to planning, you only have 24 hours each day, it’s not gonna change. Put in your list the amount of the things you know you’re capable of doing in the time that you can maintain. If you have everything done and still have some time left, you can always organize the rest of your time with productivity or take some rest. If you see an unfinished task on your list, it will automatically demotivate you because it will make you think you’re not good enough to do what’s needed. If that happens, take things slowly but don’t stop. Failure is the pillar of improvement.
Does having breaks from the routine come in handy?
Naturally, everyone has some worse days or sudden situations when they’re incapable of being as efficient as most of the time. And that’s understandable. Take some free time if you need it. It is much better to take time off work to clear your head and then go back to where you finished rather than having your mind occupied all the time with something that’s been bothering you.
An important thing to notice: resting is not quitting.
One more thing is left: keep things clear. Organize both, your personal space of work and your daily plan. It will restrain the number of distractions around you, so you’ll be more focused.
Summing up:
Once you start with your routine, it’ll become your lifestyle. The key is a good organization of your time and later on having enough patience to keep doing what you started. The people who surround you and the type of place where you are working need to be chosen wisely.
Being consistent is the key to your success.
